Experts Available for Media Interviews About Late-Breaking Research at Society for Vascular Surgery Annual Meeting

Cedars-Sinai experts will present research and be available to comment on late-breaking presentations during the Society for Vascular Surgery’s 2025 Vascular Annual Meeting (VAM25) June 4-7 in New Orleans.

On Saturday, June 7, vascular surgeon Elizabeth Chou, MD, will describe results from a study that incorporated a deep-learning model. The study is titled “Aortic Strain and Diameter After Endovascular and Open Thoracic Aortic Repair.”

Chou, an assistant professor of Vascular Surgery in the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai, seeks to improve detection of aortic disease. Chou authored a review paper published in 2023 in Nature Reviews Cardiology that describes advances in genetic understanding of thoracic aortic disease and the potential for artificial intelligence to identify disease at scale.

In addition to Chou’s presentation, on June 4, Cedars-Sinai resident Robert Matthews, MD, will share “VESS21: The Impact of Distal Perfusion Catheters on Vascular Complications in VA ECMO at a Single Institution.”

“These presentations are fine examples of the multidisciplinary collaboration at Cedars-Sinai that leads to improved understanding of challenging aortic conditions, optimizes our treatment protocols, and ultimately improves patient outcomes,” said Ali Azizzadeh, MD, professor and director of Vascular Surgery at Cedars-Sinai and associate director of the Smidt Heart Institute.
