CBS 2: Huntington Hospital | ‘Look At This!’

CBS 2 recently featured Huntington Health, a Cedars-Sinai affiliate, on its “Look At This!” segment spotlighting places of interest in Southern California.

CBS 2 reporter Desmond Shaw said that Huntington Health’s Level II trauma center, Huntington Hospital, is a premier San Gabriel Valley hospital within a nationally recognized health system.

“There really are an impressive amount of gleaming reports about these facilities and the staff here at this nonprofit institution,” Shaw said. “They’ve been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for their cardiology department, their state-of-the-art neurology and neurosurgery department—especially when it comes to stroke care—and they’re leaders in cancer care, orthopedic care and advanced robotic surgery.

“And if that’s not enough,” Shaw continued, “they’re also leaders in nursing care. They’re in the top 10% of all hospitals in the country, having been given the Magnet designation, which is basically the gold standard of nursing care.”

Shaw noted that the hospital, which opened in Pasadena in 1892 with 16 beds, has expanded over the decades to include an inpatient tower, enhanced Emergency Department and more than 500 beds. He added that Huntington Health further strengthened its reputation when it joined the “nationally renowned” Cedars-Sinai Health System in 2021.

“The hospital is really interwoven in the rich history of Pasadena, not just because of the great care and the facilities here, but also because the hospital is only six years younger than the city itself,” Shaw said.
