Patients Sought For Clinical Trial Studying The Cause Of Tremors

Los Angeles - Nov. 11, 2008 - If you’re over age 40 and have developed a tremor within the past 2 years, you may be eligible to participate in a research study at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center evaluating a new diagnostic tool.

Tremors can be caused by Parkinson’s disease and similar syndromes, or by other disorders. Determining the cause can help doctors provide the most effective, targeted treatments.

This Phase 3 study uses a new imaging agent in conjunction with a SPECT scan to identify certain changes in nerve cells in the brain and can help diagnose the cause of tremors. The imaging agent has already undergone several clinical trials and is in the final stage of testing.

If you qualify for the study, you will receive a free scan and a diagnosis by a movement disorder specialist at Cedars-Sinai. Only 3 outpatient visits are required, and you may be compensated for your time.
