Board Members Advise on, Advocate for Hospital Policies That Help Patients and Communities

Bryan Croft, Cedars-Sinai’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, Hospital Operations, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and CEO of Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, has been selected to join the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board 9, where he will advise on and advocate for healthcare policies vital to hospitals and their patients.

“I am honored to join Regional Policy Board 9 during such an important era for healthcare,” Croft said. “As technology and AI continue to evolve and transform healthcare, I hope to work with my Regional Policy Board colleagues to utilize these tools to further strengthen hospitals, while remaining focused on our highest priority—exceptional patient care.”

The AHA is a national nonprofit organization that represents and supports hospitals, health systems and their patients. Its regional policy boards facilitate dialogue among the AHA, its members and state hospital associations, helping to shape key advocacy efforts and policy recommendations.

Regional Policy Board 9 consists of healthcare leaders from AHA member hospitals and health systems across California, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington. The board meets three times annually and collaborates throughout the year to address pressing healthcare challenges. Croft’s appointment, which began on Jan. 1, is effective through Dec. 31, 2028.

“Bryan Croft will make a great addition to AHA’s Regional Policy Board 9 in its work to support innovative and effective policy solutions for the many challenges hospitals face today,” said Carmela Coyle, president & CEO of the California Hospital Association. “Bryan brings years of hospital experience and a willingness to ask the tough questions that drive conversations forward.”

Said Sean Barry, AHA regional executive for Region 9, “Bryan brings deep experience navigating California’s complex healthcare policy environment through his leadership at Cedars-Sinai. He offers keen insights and asks questions others don’t always think to ask. His perspective will be an important asset as we advocate for hospitals and health systems across the region.”

As executive vice president and chief operating officer of Hospital Operations, Croft leads the day-to-day operations of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, overseeing service line and clinical support services with the goal of ensuring the delivery of high-quality, effective and efficient patient care. He also serves as CEO of Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital.

“Croft’s drive for healthcare innovation will be very helpful to the deliberations of the board,” said Peter L. Slavin, Cedars-Sinai’s president and CEO.

“Croft’s participation on the Regional Policy Board reflects both his expertise and Cedars-Sinai’s leadership as the Regional Emerging Special Pathogen Treatment Center for Region 9,” Slavin said. “Bryan’s experience leading continuous improvement initiatives ensures our region is represented by an individual with the expertise and commitment needed to advance healthcare preparedness.”

Croft joined Cedars-Sinai in 2010 as vice president of Operations and was promoted to senior vice president of Operations in 2017. He has been instrumental in advancing Cedars-Sinai’s operations and developing clinical programs and services, working collaboratively with department chairs, senior management and medical staff.

His leadership accomplishments include operational and strategic oversight of the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai and the Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital replacement facility, and expansion and establishment of new clinical programs.

Croft earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Tech University and a master’s degree in healthcare administration from Trinity University.
