Cedars-Sinai and Los Angeles Rams Bring S.T.E.A.M. Experience to King/ Drew Magnet High School
Media Invited to Attend Hands-On Career Exploration and Health Science Activities for over 500 Students
WHAT
Cedars-Sinai and the Los Angeles Rams will bring their S.T.E.A.M. Squad program to King/Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science for an immersive day of hands-on learning and career exploration. The event is presented as part of the Rams and Hollywood Park S.T.E.A.M. education program, presented by Cedars-Sinai.
Approximately 600 students will participate in interactive experiences led by professionals from Cedars-Sinai, the Rams and Hollywood Park. Rams safety and captain Quentin Lake also will be in attendance.
The immersive experience will show students how science, technology, engineering, art and math connect to careers in healthcare, sports and entertainment.
Students will rotate through interactive stations including:
- S.T.E.A.M. career panel featuring Cedars-Sinai, Rams and Hollywood Park professionals, who will discuss their career paths and how they use S.T.E.A.M. in their work
- Cedars-Sinai ambulance simulation and walk-through featuring emergency-care equipment
- Stop the Bleed workshop where students will practice lifesaving bleeding-control skills
- Hands-on activities exploring DNA extraction and microscopy, healthcare technology, and the role of movement and physical skills in sports
- A public health simulation, using data and epidemiology to investigate a fictional disease outbreak
In addition, ALL students will be invited to a Rams S.T.E.A.M. activation with interactive tables, giveaways and a DJ.
