WEHOville.com: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Ranks in the Top 50 U.S. Hospitals

WEHOville.com recently wrote about Cedars-Sinai being ranked in the top 50 U.S. hospitals for quality of care, putting the medical center among the top 1% in the nation providing a high quality of clinical care.

The ranking was announced by Healthgrades, a company that provides information about physicians, hospitals and health care providers. Cedars-Sinai was recognized in several categories for its excellences in providing quality healthcare in specialties including cardiology, pulmonology, stroke, coronary intervention, neurosciences and prostate surgery.

Healthgrades measures performance by risk-adjusted in-hospital complication rates and in-hospital or 30-day post-admission mortality rates for 32 conditions and procedures based on MedPAR outcomes data (from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and for two procedures based on all-payer data from 15 states and the District of Columbia, representing just under half of the U.S. population.

The WEHOville.com article comes on the heels of a Los Angeles Business Journal interview with Thomas M. Priselac, President and CEO of Cedars-Sinai, in which he discusses his role in keeping the largest hospital complex in the western United States focused on quality care and expanded access.

“The key to our success is our people — the physicians, nurses and all the other staff as well as our 3,000 volunteers,” Priselac told the Business Journal when asked what Cedars-Sinai does to maintain its top rankings. “Our focus is on supporting them in every way possible, enabling them to do what they do best in the interest of our patients and the community.”
