Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital Names New Chief Nursing Officer
Jessica Almeida, DNP, RN, to Lead Nursing Team, Help Prepare for Opening of New Facility
Jessica “Jess” Almeida, DNP, RN, has been promoted to be the chief nursing officer at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital.
Almeida joined Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital in 2023 as associate director of Nursing Operations and has served as the hospital’s interim chief nursing officer since May 2024. She honed her nursing expertise over more than two decades and has extensive clinical experience working with patients in neonatal intensive care units, emergency departments and medical-surgical divisions.
Almeida’s background in nursing leadership also spans a variety of patient care and nonclinical areas. She has led hospital-wide initiatives focused on improving communication, interdisciplinary care and operational efficiency.
"Jess’s comprehensive experience in nursing and hospital leadership, coupled with her professional and educational accomplishments, makes her an outstanding nursing executive and an exceptional fit for this critical role,” said Joanne Laguna-Kennedy, MSN, RN, vice president of Hospital Operations and chief operating officer of Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. “As interim chief nursing officer, she led our nursing team with dedication, expertise and compassion. We congratulate her on this well-deserved promotion.”
Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital, Almeida served as the executive director of operations at Cedars-Sinai Providence Tarzana Medical Center, where she focused on quality improvement projects related to patient flow, work processes, clinical informatics and construction of the hospital’s new patient tower.
That experience will be critical as Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital prepares to move into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility in late 2026.
“I’m excited for this new opportunity and eager to continue helping our nursing team realize our vision of meeting the highest standards of excellence in nursing care,” Almeida said.
Laguna-Kennedy added that she is confident Almeida will help make the transition to the new hospital smooth and successful for the nursing staff.
