Cedars-Sinai Honors CEO Emeritus Thomas M. Priselac
Thomas M. Priselac Center for Innovation in Performance Improvement and Thomas M. Priselac Administrative Fellowship Named in Honor of Healthcare Leader
Cedars-Sinai is honoring former president and CEO Thomas M. Priselac, who led the organization’s transformation from a respected community hospital into an internationally recognized academic medical center. The institution has established the Thomas M. Priselac Center for Innovation in Performance Improvement.
Cedars-Sinai also has created the Thomas M. Priselac Administrative Fellowship as a tribute to Priselac, who spent 30 years as president and CEO and served the organization for 45 years total. The fellowship will help foster the next generation of healthcare leaders.
Priselac retired from his role as president and CEO in 2024. His leadership recently was celebrated at a dinner reception, where leaders from Cedars-Sinai lauded him as a tireless champion for excellence in healthcare, whose vision enabled groundbreaking medical advancements, research achievements and a deep commitment to the health of the community.
“An institution always bears the marks of its leader,” said Peter L. Slavin, MD, the current president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai and the David and Meredith Kaplan Presidential Chair. “I’m fortunate to follow in the footsteps of a predecessor who has left a powerful and lasting mark on Cedars-Sinai and the larger healthcare community.”
Donors have contributed $5 million toward the development of the Thomas M. Priselac Center for Innovation in Performance Improvement. The center’s mission will build on the evolving digital landscape of medicine, specifically in the areas of information technology, data analytics and clinical operations.
“What a tremendous honor to be celebrated in this way, having a center established in my name by my Cedars-Sinai family and supported by our many partners who help us advance our important mission,” Priselac said. “Through this enterprise, Cedars-Sinai will continue the important work of sustaining the highest levels of medical care and pioneering breakthroughs in delivering healthcare services.”
Plans are in the works to install signage in the medical center’s Healing Gardens to recognize Priselac for his enduring commitment to the health system.
“Tom Priselac has been instrumental to the arc of Cedars-Sinai’s success over three decades,” said Arthur J. Ochoa, JD, senior vice president of Advancement and chief advancement officer for Cedars-Sinai. “His inspired guidance will continue to drive and inform how we define and drive progress.”
