The healthcare challenges facing our community are constantly evolving. At Cedars-Sinai, we are dedicated to addressing these shifting priorities. Maximizing our impact requires the generous partnership of donors whose financial gifts can be directed wherever they are needed most.

This year, Robert and Kathy Zatta decided to contribute to Cedars-Sinai’s general fund. Native New Jerseyans who split their time between Princeton and Los Angeles, where some of their children and grandchildren reside, the Zattas have benefitted from Cedars-Sinai’s expert care and were eager to help others have the same experience.

"Everybody we encountered at Cedars-Sinai was absolutely amazing, from the doctors and the nurses to the staff who checked us in," Robert said. "The people there do an incredible job, and they improve so many patients’ lives. Kathy and I have a lot of confidence in Cedars-Sinai’s leadership and think they know better than we do where donations can best be helpful."

Bill and Nancy Mutterperl are also transplants from the East Coast who settled in Los Angeles full time during the COVID lockdown. When it came time to find healthcare providers in their adopted city, they chose Cedars-Sinai, and soon began donating to its general fund.

"Nancy and I feel blessed to live a comfortable life, and it is our privilege to give back to causes that matter to us, like healthcare," Bill said. "We think it’s better not to second-guess the institutions we support; a place like Cedars-Sinai, which deals with all kinds of illnesses, is in a much better position than we are to understand the landscape and allocate its resources intelligently."

Arthur Ochoa, senior vice president of Advancement and chief advancement officer at Cedars-Sinai, is especially thankful for unrestricted gifts that donors like the Zattas and the Mutterperls provide.

“When donors invest their trust in us, we have the flexibility to ensure we are utilizing their funds in the most efficient and effective ways possible,” he said. “Their contributions make a critical difference by transforming outcomes and saving lives.”
