The View Hospital Opens in Doha, Qatar

The View Hospital, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility in Doha, Qatar, opened its doors Sunday, Dec. 18, 2022, the same day the nation celebrated Qatar National Day and hosted the FIFA World Cup final.

The hospital is an affiliation between Elegancia Healthcare, a subsidiary of Estithmar Holding, and Cedars-Sinai. It will provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient programs, with 240 inpatient beds and several specialties and centers of excellence—all equipped with the latest technology.

Physicians at The View Hospital will be able to access world-class specialists at Cedars-Sinai and work together in sharing expertise and best practices to develop processes and procedures that provide patients with the highest standard of care.

“The hard work and good will of both teams over many months have brought us to this milestone, and I am excited for The View Hospital to become a trusted destination for the people of Qatar, the region and beyond,” said Thomas M. Priselac, Cedars-Sinai president and chief executive officer. “Our joint efforts are very much in keeping with the spirit of the times, in an era of increased collaboration throughout the global healthcare community.”

Cedars-Sinai has been named the No. 2 hospital in the United States and No. 1 in California in U.S. News & World Report’s "Best Hospitals 2022-23" rankings.

To mark the hospital’s opening, several of Qatar’s senior government leaders toured the facility on Sunday for a firsthand look at the medical units and technology, which meet the highest international standards for health facilities.

The delegation included His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani—Prime Minister and Minister of Interior—and Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health.

Commenting on the opening of The View Hospital, Moutaz AlKhayyat, chairman of Estithmar Holding, said: “This pivotal facility is a major contribution to the growing healthcare landscape in Qatar and the region and will offer advanced care to the community. Heitham Hassoun, MD, Cedars-Sinai vice president and medical director of International, who attended the hospital opening, said the new facility will benefit from Cedars-Sinai’s clinical and operational expertise. The affiliation will allow medical professionals from The View Hospital to attend clinical care training sessions at Cedars-Sinai and collaborate on research.

“We are excited to be a part of this special initiative in Qatar,” Hassoun said. “Opening The View Hospital represents an important milestone as Cedars-Sinai expands its special brand of healthcare, bringing world-class care to patients globally.”
