Experts Can Explain the Health Effects of Extreme Heat as a Heat Wave Moves Into Southern California

A heat wave is expected to hit Southern California starting Wednesday and lasting through Friday, according to the National Weather Service, which predicts highs approaching 110 inland and 80s to low 90s along the coast. It is expected to be the hottest stretch yet this summer, and it`s likely some daily records will be tied or broken.

Cedars-Sinai experts are available to discuss the health effects of extreme heat on children, adults and older adults. The physicians can cover topics such as when to seek medical care, how heat exhaustion could turn into heatstroke and how unsafe air—due to a heightened risk of wildfires—affects long-term health.
