Cedars-Sinai at LA Mayor's Summer Night Lights

Cedars-Sinai's COACH for Kids team

The COACH for Kids team at the Telemundo Health Fair at the LA Convention Center in March, 2018.

This summer, Cedars-Sinai is joining the office of LA Mayor Eric Garcetti on one of his key initiatives—Summer Night Lights. Now in its 10th year, the summer event series is an important project of the Gang Reduction and Youth Development program.

With a goal of reducing gang violence in some LA's most vulnerable neighborhoods, the program creates a safe space for families to gather and enjoy summer nights together.

Throughout July and August, 32 parks and recreation centers across LA and the San Fernando Valley stay open late and feature an array of activities. Each location offers free family fun including food, sports, art, and community resources.

The Cedars-Sinai COACH for Kids will join Summer Night Lights for two events to offer healthcare services to children and their parents.

"We are really excited to be a part of these events," says COACH Program Director Michele Rigsby Pauley. "We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with the mayor's office and help create a safe, healthy space for our community."

COACH will be offering:

  • Immunizations for kids
  • Dental education for kids
  • Nutrition education and activities
  • Safety City—an interactive activity that teaches kids about pedestrian and traffic safety

COACH will join the following dates and locations:
July 25, 7-11 pm Green Meadows Recreation Center
431 E 89th St. Los Angeles, CA 90003

July 27, 7- 11 pm Ross Snyder Recreation Center
