Endowed chairs at Cedars-Sinai serve as a vital form of financial support, equipping the medical center with an enduring source of funding to recruit, retain and advance the work of world-class physicians and scholars. With $3 million designated from a landmark $13 million gift to the medical center, Eric and Terri Holoman have endowed the Holoman Chair in Health Equity, to be held by Christina Harris, MD, Cedars-Sinai’s vice president and chief health equity officer. The endowed chair honors Harris’ significant achievements and empowers Cedars-Sinai to enhance healthcare access and outcomes for all, no matter their backgrounds or beliefs.
“We are grateful to Eric and Terri Holoman for their civic-minded vision to help balance the scales in health equity reform,” said Arthur J. Ochoa, JD, senior vice president of Advancement and chief advancement officer at Cedars-Sinai. “Making gains in this area is critically important and calls for thoughtful action across the healthcare industry.”
Harris said she will use her platform as the inaugural holder of the Holoman Chair in Health Equity to drive comprehensive programs and research.

“Healthcare organizations have a responsibility to ensure that every patient has the opportunity to achieve the best possible outcome and that care is responsive to the unique needs of the communities they serve,” Harris said. “This endowed chair reflects a lasting commitment to advancing that work through innovation, research, community partnership, and continued focus on improving care for the patients and communities we are privileged to serve.”
Peter L. Slavin, MD, president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai, said Eric and Terri Holoman’s philanthropy will strengthen the medical center's ongoing dedication to upholding the highest standards of equitable care.
“With the substance and scope of this gift to Cedars-Sinai, Eric and Terri Holoman are sending a message—loud and clear—that to be excellent, healthcare must be inclusive, that health equity is non-negotiable,” said Slavin, the David and Meredith Kaplan Presidential Chair. “Their generosity has created a permanent program focused on ensuring that progress in medicine reaches all communities.”
