The Transformative Benefits of Unrestricted Gifts

Donations aimed at advancing specific initiatives in medicine can lead to groundbreaking improvements in the health of individuals and families. Yet, some of the most transformative healthcare-focused philanthropy is often charitable giving that supports an organization’s greatest area of need. This year, Cedars-Sinai was the fortunate recipient of generous unrestricted gifts that helped strengthen its vital mission and open new frontiers of scientific possibility.

An anonymous $1 million gift for unrestricted purposes came from a donor who is focused on helping sustain Cedars-Sinai’s operations. “I am consistently impressed by the breadth and depth of services Cedars-Sinai provides to diverse communities,” said the donor, who has now given a total of more than $3 million to meet the medical center’s general operating needs. “Rather than restricting the use of my contribution to one particular purpose, I prefer to let the experts direct it in the most targeted and efficient way possible.”

Unrestricted donations to Cedars-Sinai can assist with building projects, technology upgrades, infrastructure expansion, patient-care needs, disaster-relief efforts and the broad array of unanticipated challenges that arise each day. From physicians, nurses and pharmacists to social workers and environmental services technicians, the Cedars-Sinai team works tirelessly on the front lines to provide safe and compassionate care to every patient who walks through the medical center’s doors.

Whether they are being leveraged to battle a public health crisis, to back a promising new research initiative or to fund facility improvements, gifts to Cedars-Sinai’s area of greatest need ensure the medical center has the resources it needs to improve and extend the lives of countless patients in our community.
