Donor Spotlight: Dana and Richard Pachulski

Although Dana and Richard Pachulski have been contributing generously to Cedars-Sinai for over a decade, their most recent leadership gift reflects an even deeper appreciation for the medical center and its influence in their lives.

"Being a member of the Board of Governors really helped me feel connected during the pandemic, which was one of the scariest times in our life," Dana recalls. "There were so many unknowns. But Cedars-Sinai is extraordinary, and watching the institution rise to the occasion made Richard and me so proud."

"We feel a real need to give back, and with Cedars-Sinai doing such spectacular things, it makes supporting the institution’s work extremely compelling."

That sense of pride inspired them to make a significant six-figure gift to sustain research at the Board of Governors Innovation Center (BOGIC), which is expanding our understanding of the roles that cells play in human biology—and, in the process, transforming our ability to treat devastating illnesses.

"I’ve had the privilege of meeting Cedars-Sinai physicians and hearing firsthand about the scientific advances they are making possible," Dana says. "Especially as our community was grappling with COVID-19, it made me feel so much better knowing we had such a remarkable resource right here in our own backyard."

Speaking to doctors highlighted for Dana and Richard how impactful their investment in Cedars-Sinai could be. "When you look at BOGIC and at the Board of Governors Regenerative Medicine Institute, you realize their research has incredibly broad sweep and is not just limited to one area of medicine," Dana says. "They’re making discoveries related to fighting cancer; they’re growing actual human bone; they’re making strides in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS. The opportunities are truly endless."

Both Dana and Richard are native Angelenos, and they share a desire to build connections with, and help strengthen, the city they love. "We feel a real need to give back, and with Cedars-Sinai doing such spectacular things, it makes supporting the institution’s work extremely compelling," Dana says. "We’ve all been touched by medicine, and by giving to Cedars-Sinai, we can play a role in making sure the reach of that medicine continues to grow."
