College Student Summer Program

The College Student Summer Program (CSSP) application will open Thursday, Feb. 1 and close Sunday, Mar. 31. Applicants must be enrolled in a college or university and have completed at least one semester. Participants must commit to 10 weeks of volunteering and complete one four-hour shift per week, for a minimum of 40 hours. Volunteers who complete the program will receive a printout of hours, upon request. We welcome you to volunteer over multiple summers

Session Dates

  • Track A: May 20 – July 28
  • Track B: June 10 – August 18
  • Track C: July 8 – September 15

Volunteers will choose which track they would like and must be available for the entire session. If the volunteer has vacation plans, they must choose a session that doesn't interfere with their plans. If volunteers want to start earlier or stay longer, supervisor approval is required.

Volunteers are allowed a maximum of two absences which must be made up with extra shift(s).

Assignments are subject to change based on the needs of the medical center, schedules and volunteer capacity.

Hours Requirement:

Volunteers must commit to 10 weeks of volunteering to join the program and complete a minimum of 40 hours. 10 weeks, one 4-hour shift per week. Each volunteer will start with 1 shift per week.

Requirements

  • All volunteers must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
  • Candidates must:
    • Submit an application
    • Upload valid proof of COVID-19 vaccination (digital record, PDF of card, etc.)
    • Be available for a virtual interview
    • Attend a general volunteer orientation
    • Receive a health evaluation
    • Get a flu vaccine
    • Purchase (for $30) and wear a volunteer jacket during each shift

Successful applicants must complete the online orientation, health evaluation and have up-to-date flu and COVID-19 inoculations. Volunteer Services programs are subject to change based on the status of the COVID-19 pandemic to protect the health and safety of our volunteers, patients and staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

Volunteers will need to complete a minimum of 150 hours to receive a letter of recommendation.

All additional shift requests will need to be discussed and approved by the program administrator/supervisor.

All absences must be reported to your program administrator/supervisor. Any missed shifts must be rescheduled to complete the program.

Volunteers may begin their assignment once all onboarding requirements are completed and first day training is scheduled.

Notify your supervisor of your last day in advance. Badges must be returned to your program administrator/supervisor after your last shift.

Please notify your program administrator/supervisor and ask to be placed on a leave of absence. When you are ready to return, please reach out to us to coordinate.
