Bhowmick Laboratory is focused on understanding how the tumor microenvironment influences cancer initiation, metastatic progression and therapeutic resistance. The goal is thus to address the host response to cancer in order to provide effective therapeutic and possibly preventive targets. Applications of these concepts have resulted in testing in cytokine and metabolic regulators in prostate, lung, renal, colon, pancreatic and bladder cancer clinically relevant models. Multidisciplinary collaborations help interrogate signaling mechanisms for therapeutic development.
