Institutional Review Board (IRB)

Mission and Values

All research activities at Cedars-Sinai involving human subjects are overseen by the Institutional Review Boards (IRBs). In order to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects, our IRBs conduct thorough reviews of each research study at the outset, at regular intervals throughout and monitor the conduct of research after approval, to ensure that research complies with ethical principles as well as federal, state and institutional regulations.

Office of Research Compliance & Quality Improvement

As the administrative arm of Cedars-Sinai's IRBs, the Office of Research Compliance & Quality Improvement is the designated institutional Human Protection Administrator. Under the leadership of its director, the Office of Research Compliance & Quality Improvement guards the rights and welfare of human beings who are involved in or are the subject of research activities.
