Research Areas
Territorial differences in the propensity of various arterial beds are known to be responsible for the pathophysiology of vascular diseases. Behrooz Sharifi, PhD, has used cell and molecular biology techniques as well as animal models to investigate the role of blood vessel wall-specific genes in the pathophysiology of atherosclerosis, vein graft stenosis and restenosis after balloon angioplasty.
