Mary is a child development specialist and parent educator with extensive expertise in the implementation of family-supportive programs at the workplace. She consults with management on a wide array of family-related issues and directs Work & Life Matters Parent Services—a multifaceted program offering child care referral, counseling and educational services for working parents and grandparents.
Mary is the author of the Parents' Choice Award-winning books My Dad Lost His Job and Mom Doesn't Work There Anymore, a set of children's books/parent guides designed to help families cope with the trauma of unemployment.
She is the recipient of the Los Angeles Child Care Innovator Award and a Commendation for Outstanding Community Service from former Los Angeles mayor Tom Bradley. Mary has served on the California Trustline Public Education Advisory Committee, the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area Child Care Committee and the Conference Board Work/Family Advisory Panel. She is widely quoted as an expert on parenting issues in LA Parent, Redbook, the Los Angeles Times and numerous other publications.
