Scrotum and Testes Conditions and Treatments
Our experts diagnose lumps on the scrotum or testicles to find the cause behind pain or discomfort. We also identify infections, infertility or any other conditions in the scrotum and testes.

What Is the Scrotum?
Most males have a scrotum, which is a pouch made of skin attached behind the penis and hangs between the legs. The testes, also called testicles, live inside the scrotum.
What Are the Testes?
The testes are glands that make sperm. Testes also create testosterone, an important hormone that helps males grow and develop.
What Do the Scrotum and Testes Do?
The scrotum protects and regulates the temperature of the testes. The testes are connected to a series of tubes (epididymis and vas deferens). These tubes help transport sperm and seminal fluid from the testes and seminal glands into and out of the penis.
Many underlying conditions can cause pain and symptoms in the scrotum and testes, including cysts, erectile dysfunction and cancer. We work with specialists in urology, male infertility and oncology to understand what may be causing problems with the testes or scrotum. We get you the answers you need and help improve your health.

Diagnosis
In addition to asking you about your symptoms and medical history, we run several sophisticated diagnostic tests, including:
Blood Tests |
Ultrasound Biopsy |
Imaging Tests |

These tests help us identify infections that could be causing your symptoms. |
We use an ultrasound to see inside the scrotum and testes. With a small scope, we take a tissue sample, which we analyze for abnormalities. |
CT, MRI and ultrasound help us identify structural issues such as undescended testes and other irregularities. |
Treatment
We offer sophisticated treatment to help conditions of the testes and scrotum, including:
Male Contraceptive Surgery (Vasectomy)
A vasectomy is a relatively straightforward procedure during which we cut or block off the tubes that create a path for sperm to reach the penis. Afterward, the testes continue to make sperm, but they no longer travel to the penis to cause pregnancy.
Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection
Lymph nodes collect and distribute fluid in the body. During this procedure, we remove cancerous lymph nodes from the abdomen. These lymph nodes may spread fluid infected with cancer cells, so removing them helps reduce the growth of cancer.
