Caregiver Support
Helping a family member or friend with the physical, practical and emotional challenges of a serious medical condition can be stressful. There are often new roles, responsibilities and tasks that come with being a caregiver—navigating the complex healthcare system, researching available support services and managing financial matters—all while trying to maintain the responsibilities you had before becoming a caregiver.
Support for family members and friends is a key component of Supportive Care Medicine. Team members are available to assist with support and education in the following areas:
- Coping with a loved one's illness
- Adjusting to new responsibilities and roles
- Balancing self-care with caregiving duties
- Connecting to community-based resources for support
- Grief
