Caregiver Support

Helping a family member or friend with the physical, practical and emotional challenges of a serious medical condition can be stressful. There are often new roles, responsibilities and tasks that come with being a caregiver—navigating the complex healthcare system, researching available support services and managing financial matters—all while trying to maintain the responsibilities you had before becoming a caregiver.

Support for family members and friends is a key component of Supportive Care Medicine. Team members are available to assist with support and education in the following areas:

  • Emotional needs
  • Balancing work, family needs and caregiving
  • Managing additional financial responsibilities
  • Coping with added responsibilities and adjusting to unexpected challenges
  • Connecting to community resources to assist with practical and emotional challenges of caregiving
