Summary
This study focuses on individuals who have had one of the following fractures: hip, ankle, shinbone (leg), upper arm, or forearm. The purpose of the study is to collect information that will help doctors provide care that meets patients’ needs by providing better information about the biological, psychological, and social factors that affect their health. To this end, participants will be asked to complete survey questionnaires.
The Patient-Reported Outcome Measurement Information System (PROMIS) questionnaires were created as a brief and user-friendly way to collect data from patients about outcomes that matter to them, as well as to standardize how this information is shared. Researchers hope to improve their understanding of how the biological, psychological, and social factors reported by patients affect recovery over time from common fractures.
The study also aims to determine whether it is possible to link the scores from various PROMIS measures to questionnaires that have been used in the past with orthopaedic patients. In so doing, researchers and doctors can understand how the results of older studies are related to new research.
