Maternity Classes & Tour FAQs
INFORMATION REGARDING COVID-19 (coronavirus):
Cedars-Sinai has placed maternity tours on hold and transitioned classes to a virtual live conference platform until further notice as we continue to evaluate and manage the health and safety of our patients, staff and visitors.
All classes offered through our program are meant to be taken prenatally, and it's important to register well in advance to make sure you get the dates you want. We typically recommend that you register for classes in your 5th month of pregnancy and attend them during your 7th or 8th month. That’s early enough for you to be comfortable, but late enough that the information will be fresh in your mind when it’s time to have your baby.
Please register online through our website. The tour is free, but advance registration is required. Note: The Cedars-Sinai Childbirth Series and Cesarean Birth classes include a tour, so you don't need to register for it separately.
We aren't able to accommodate private tours.
We recommend that you register for the tour in your 5th month of pregnancy and take it during your 7th or 8th month.
But you can take it at another time if you prefer. Some may use the Maternity Tour as a way to decide which hospital best matches their birth preferences, while others take it to familiarize themselves and their family with our facility prior to the birth. Just remember to book ahead, because the tours are only offered on select dates, and times tend to fill up fast.
No, only the Cedars-Sinai Childbirth Series and Cesarean Birth classes include a tour. If you aren't registered for any of those classes, you can register for a tour online.
All classes are held on the Cedars-Sinai main campus. You'll receive the exact location in a confirmation email after you complete the registration. Please check directions by GPS or on a map before you leave to make sure you know where you’re going.
If you haven't received a confirmation email within 24 hours of registering, please call the Childbirth and Parenting Education Office at 310-423-5168 during office hours (Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
Parking is available in lots P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, or P6. Cedars-Sinai does not validate for the Medical Office Towers. Please refer to the downloadable map for recommended parking structures based on your class location. If you need parking assistance, please call the Hospitality Desk at 310-423-4444. If you are interested in Extended Stay Parking Passes for your delivery, contact the Parking Office at: 310-423-5535.
We are unable to provide validation for Maternity Tours.
Classes may be rescheduled one time without a fee, as long as the request is made 48 hours before the start date. All other reschedules will carry a $25 processing fee. Any rescheduling request made less than 48 hours before the start of class will carry a $25 processing fee (this includes rescheduling after a missed class). Due to the size and volume of these classes, we can’t guarantee that another class time will be available.
We are unable to process registration transfers between two different classes.
To make a change to your registration, call the Childbirth & Parenting Education Office at 310-423-5168 during office hours (Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.).
Full refunds are only available if you cancel for medical reasons or if your baby is delivered before the start of your scheduled class. If you cancel 2 weeks (14 days) before the start of class, you’ll receive a refund minus the $25 non-refundable processing fee. Cancellations made less than 2 weeks before the class are refunded at 50% of the amount paid. Please allow 7 to 10 business days for all refund processing. No refunds are issued for missed classes.
Couples enrolled in one of the Childbirth Series (1-Day or 2-Day) classes will get a $25 discount off of enrollment in the Labor Comfort and Support class. Remember to select the "Special Discount" option during registration.
Also, Cedars-Sinai employees can take any classes at a 10% discount. Remember to select the "Cedars Employee Registration" option during registration.
No. Our classes are thorough and immersive—so if you're interested in multiple topics, you'll need to take multiple classes.
Please contact your insurance provider to see if your policy covers prenatal education classes. If it does, you’ll still need to pay for your classes when you register. After completing each class, contact our office to draft a reimbursement letter that you can submit to your insurance company.
You can add yourself to the waitlist. Click the link below the class date you're interested in, click "Register" on the registration portal and add your contact information. If a spot becomes available, you’ll be notified by email and will have 48 hours to register for the class.
We offer a variety of class formats to meet your preferences and scheduling needs. The content is the same in each of the Childbirth Series classes, but the pacing is different. A longer class series allows more opportunity for connection, discussion, questions, activities and hands-on practice.
