Full Study Name

Answer ALS: Individualized Initiative for ALS Discovery (IRB no. 42287)

This study will collect specimens and data from patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The specimens will be used to create cells called induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and to collect DNA for ALS gene identification. This will allow scientists to analyze genes that may be related to ALS, as well as identify factors in the blood that could help them understand how to detect ALS and the progression of the disease.

The samples will be analyzed and combined with data collected from measures that evaluate patients' overall function, strength, breathing function and memory. Blood specimens and data will be available for future research projects as part of a repository.
