MRI Spine

Usually ordered as MRI of the C-spine (cervical), T-spine (thoracic) or L-spine (lumbar). Ordered to look at the structural integrity and the soft tissues of the spine, including the spinal cord and bone marrow.
Indications
- Radiculopathy
- Cord tumor
- Spinal infection
- Postoperative evaluation (for infection)
- Compression fractures
Contrast
- It is preferred that the decision to use contrast be left up to the imaging physician.
- Therefore, it is important to give thorough indication and relative history because contrast may be indicated, or special views may be needed.
