Cancer and its treatment may sometimes negatively impact a person's physical function and quality of life. The goal of cancer rehabilitation is to optimize an individual's recovery, endurance and ability to get back to their lives. Cancer rehabilitation services at Cedars-Sinai offer a holistic and collaborative approach to oncology care.

A Dedicated Team Focused on Your Recovery

At Cedars-Sinai, our cancer rehabilitation team members include physical therapists, occupational therapists and speech/language pathologists. Cancer rehabilitation physicians and medical staff work with the rest of a patient's cancer care team to meet their individual needs.

Our Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team is here to help treat multiple health issues related to cancer care, including:

  • Fatigue
  • Peripheral neuropathy (nerve damage)
  • Musculoskeletal pain (pain that affects your muscles, ligaments, joints and bones)
  • Post-mastectomy pain
  • Muscle strength
  • Swelling (lymphedema)
  • Memory and thinking challenges (“chemo brain”)
  • Speech and swallowing difficulties

Director, Cancer Rehabilitation and Survivorship

"Sometimes simply returning to life as it was before cancer may not be possible, and perhaps the landscape of your life has been changed forever. However, we believe people can still move forward, in new directions, still on a magnificent journey."
