Detailed Visiting Hours

Policy

The following departments at Cedars-Sinai have additional requirements for friends and family wanting to visit a loved one.

If you have a cold or respiratory infection, we ask that you postpone your visit. Thank you for working with us to protect your loved one and the rest of our patients.

Visiting Hours

Maternity Visiting Hours — 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

  • The baby’s father or designated support person may visit 24 hours a day with an identification bracelet provided by the hospital staff.
  • Siblings of all ages are welcome.
  • An adult (other than the mother) must be responsible for the children during their visit.
  • If you’re ill, please postpone your visit. All visitors must be free from infections, rashes, earaches, runny noses, diarrhea or recent exposure to infectious diseases.
  • All visitors must wash their hands before contact with the baby.

Pediatric Visiting Hours — 10 a.m.-9 p.m.

  • Parents and siblings are welcome 24 hours a day.
  • Parents who want to stay overnight in their child’s room will be provided with a place to sleep.
  • If you are ill, please postpone your visit. Siblings must be free of contagious illnesses to visit, and will be screened by the pediatric staff.
  • A maximum of four visitors at a time are permitted. Cedars-Sinai staff may need to further limit the number of visitors if it’s in the best interest of the patient.
  • Visitors under age 18 must stay in the patient’s room to visit and may not be in the hallway or playroom.
  • Non-sibling visitors must be older than age 12.
  • Children love presents, but please don’t bring latex balloons, live plants or flowers. Mylar balloons are permitted. The parents or nursing supervisor must approve gifts of food.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

  • Visitors are permitted at all hours, with the exception of the hours between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. and between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • All visitors, including the patient’s siblings, must be age 18 or older.
  • Two visitors are allowed at a time.
  • To enter the unit, please call from the intercom outside ICU or the appropriate telephone in the lobby.
  • For the patient’s privacy, a caregiver may ask you to leave the patient’s room during some treatments.

Neonatal Intensive Care Visiting

  • Parents are considered part of the care team and are not restricted by visiting hours.
  • If parents are unable to visit, they may designate another adult to visit, when the parent is not there. All other visitors must be accompanied by a parent.
  • Maximum of two visitors at a time are permitted.
  • All visitors must scrub their hands upon entry to the unit.
  • Siblings who are age 3 or older are welcome to visit with their parents, with some exceptions. Siblings:
    • Must be free of illness, are required to show proof of immunizations, and must complete a health screening before each visit.
    • Under age 18 are not permitted during flu season, usually from September to March.
  • For the safety and comfort of all our patients, non-sibling visitors who are under age 18 are not allowed in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Pediatric Intensive Care Visiting
  • Parents and siblings are welcome 24 hours a day.
  • If you are ill, please postpone your visit. Siblings must be free of contagious illnesses and will be screened by the pediatric staff.
  • For the safety and comfort of all our patients, non-sibling visitors who are under age 18 are not allowed in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
