Lester Avestruz, BCC
Lead Catholic Chaplain
Fr. Lester Avestruz, BCC, serves as the lead Catholic chaplain at Cedars-Sinai.
Fr. Lester completed four units of clinical pastoral education at the UCLA Medical Center; and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center. He is a board-certified chaplain by the National Association of Catholic Chaplains and the Association of Professional Chaplains. He is fluent in spoken and written Spanish and Cebuano, his native tongue, as well as three Philippine languages: Tagalog, Waray-Waray and Ilonggo.
Prior to joining Cedars-Sinai, Fr. Lester was Catholic chaplain at UCSF Medical Center, O’Connor Hospital in San Jose and St. Mary Medical Center in Long Beach, where he served for 10 years.
