Los Angeles—April 14, 2016—Receiving a cancer diagnosis and managing treatments can be a frightening prospect. That's why many cancer survivors seek physical, emotional and spiritual healing to help recover their good health and wellbeing.

Cedars-Sinai’s Restorative Yoga program provides a guiding hand in this journey.

Instructors deeply attuned to survivors’ needs ease them through gentle chair and floor movements to rebuild range of motion and strength. Guided meditation, breathing exercises and the camaraderie in the room help students regain a sense of empowerment.

Whether age 30 or 90, survivors "get relief in body and mind," says instructor Alison Crowley.

The Gentle Yoga for Wellness class is part of Cedars-Sinai Cancer Survivorship and Rehabilitation program. All students are under the care of Arash Asher, MD, the program's director. Crowley and fellow instructor Kathleen Ross-Allee run three additional restorative yoga classes for Cedars-Sinai cancer survivors.
