Shoe Shopping to Benefit Breast Cancer Research on Oct. 11

Your quest for the perfect pumps could help the Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute fight breast cancer, as the institute will again be one of the beneficiaries helped by the 25th annual QVC Presents FFANY Shoes on Sale fundraiser.

The event takes place both on-air and online Thursday, Oct. 11, from 3-6 p.m. PDT on QVC's TV network and website. Check local listings for channel information. A minimum of 80 percent of the shoe’s purchase price from this event will benefit breast cancer research and education.

This is the seventh year Cedars-Sinai has received a grant from the organization to boost the breast cancer research and education spearheaded by Armando E. Giuliano, MD, the executive vice chair of Surgery for Surgical Oncology, co-director of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center—A Project of Women's Guild and associate director for Surgical Oncology at the cancer institute.

The Fashion Footwear Association of New York (FFANY) is composed of more than 300 community-conscious and charitable shoemakers. Its Fashion Footwear Charitable Foundation has linked up with QVC to raise more than $55 million to back breast cancer research for some of the top breast cancer hospitals in the nation. FFANY’s cumulative giving to Cedars-Sinai is $1.5 million.
