National Nursing Publication Ranks Cedars-Sinai Among Best Hospital Employers for Nurses

Los Angeles - March 30, 2009 – Cedars-Sinai Medical Center earned a spot on Nursing Professionals magazine’s “Top 100 Hospitals to Work For 2009.”

The Nursing Professionals honor resulted from a survey sent to 25,000 randomly selected hospital nurses throughout the country measuring their job satisfaction. Nurses responded to questions on their hospital’s commitment to training and professional development, flexibility in working arrangements, dedication to diversity and the strength of the “nursing voice” at the hospital.

“Every single day our nurses demonstrate their dedication to patient care,” said Linda Burnes Bolton, Dr.PH., R.N., F.A.A.N., vice president and chief nursing officer at Cedars-Sinai. “At Cedars-Sinai, we are excited that our nurses know they are appreciated and valued.” 

The award-winning nursing team at Cedars-Sinai is recognized for its, compassion, skill expertise, scientific achievements and excellence in patient care. For 10 consecutive years, Cedars-Sinai nurses have been named the best among all Los Angeles area hospitals in the annual Consumer Choice survey conducted by the National Research Corporation.

In 2008, Cedars-Sinai earned its third consecutive Magnet designation for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In its independent review, the ANCC found that Cedars-Sinai’s nursing services “represent the highest standards in the nation and internationally.” 

Nurses at Cedars-Sinai are highly valued team members whose guidance and input is sought in making important safety and patient care decisions. Increased input from nurses has led to a number of innovations at the hospital, including considerable improvements to Emergency Department patient admissions. In addition, nurses collaborate with physicians on numerous projects, lead project teams and manage service lines. They are also a vital part of Cedars-Sinai’s commitment to community service, working with programs that help more than 60,000 underserved residents each year.
