Leo Gordon, M.D., Appointed Physician Advisor for Grateful Patient Program

Los Angeles - March 24, 2008 – Leo A. Gordon, M.D., has been appointed as physician advisor in the Community Relations Department. In this role, Dr. Gordon will engage members of the medical staff, patients and their families in the new Grateful Patient Program.

"Dr. Gordon's extraordinary insight into our medical center and its community make him ideal for this new position," said Arthur J. Ochoa, Esq., senior vice president of Community Relations.

Under Dr. Gordon's leadership, the Grateful Patient Program will expand the pivotal role of physicians in Cedars-Sinai's fundraising efforts. The program will offer patients and their families new opportunities to support research, educational, clinical and community service programs.

"Dr. Gordon's leadership will be particularly important as we continue to build our academic endowment," said Shlomo Melmed, M.D., senior vice president of Academic Affairs. "Similar programs have flourished elsewhere, but few institutions nationwide are fortunate enough to have a physician of Dr. Gordon's caliber at the helm."

A 29-year veteran of the medical staff, Dr. Gordon will continue to serve as associate director of surgical education in the Department of Surgery and will maintain his own focused clinical practice.
