Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Recognized In 11 Of 16 Specialty Lists In U.S. News & World Report's 'America's Best Hospitals' List

Los Angeles - July 16, 2009 – Eleven of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s specialty programs have been ranked among the nation’s best in the 2009 “America’s Best Hospitals” issue of U.S. News & World Report, released this week.

Of the 4,861 hospitals in the nation, only 174 scored high enough to be recognized in even one specialty. Sixteen specialties were graded in the report; Cedars-Sinai ranked in heart and heart surgery, neurology and neurosurgery, cancer, orthopaedics, digestive disorders, gynecology, endocrinology, geriatric care, kidney disease, geriatrics and urology.

The U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on reputation, mortality rate, patient safety and other factors. The specialty rankings are calculated using a number of factors, including performance of a certain volume in specified procedures.
