WHAT:

Cedars-Sinai is joining the Los Angeles Rams and Super Bowl LVI champion Andrew Whitworth, the 2021 Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year, to refurbish the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles Challengers Clubhouse in South Los Angeles. The refurbishment includes a new 50-yard turf field, new bleachers and updated signage. Whitworth will unveil the field during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Following the ribbon cutting, the Rams will host a free football clinic for more than 100 local youth served by Challengers Clubhouse. Rams mascot Rampage and Rams Cheerleaders will be on hand to cheer them on. The Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year prize comes with $250,000 for the winner to donate to charity, and Whitworth has donated his prize money for this project.

WHO:

Los Angeles Rams Super Bowl LVI champion Andrew Whitworth will be joined by Cedars-Sinai and co-sponsors Bridgestone, as well as members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles Challengers Clubhouse.

WHY

The Challengers Clubhouse serves over 150 children a day and is the only track and field facility in the community and the home field for local football games, track and field tournaments, summer camps and sports clinics. As the official health partner of the Los Angeles Rams, Cedars-Sinai is collaborating with the team to support year-round programming at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles. The club provides a safe space to empower all members to learn, explore, achieve and dream (L.E.A.D.) by offering nationally recognized, research-based programs and activities in three core areas: academic success, good character and leadership, and healthy lifestyles.
