The Transfer Center is part of the Capacity Command Center, which was created to improve access to care for the community and improve our ability to place the right patient in the right bed with the right resources at the right time.
Transfer Center
The Transfer Center at Cedars-Sinai coordinates an average of 200 transfers each month to provide specialized care for our community physicians and their patients who need additional tertiary clinical support.

Requesting a Transfer to Cedars-Sinai
Our Transfer Center is available 24/7 and is staffed by experts in critical care. Your calls and messages are answered by Intensive Care Unit nurses or other highly qualified professionals. Every case is coordinated with speed and efficiency, based on availability of resources and hierarchy of need.
Emergent Transfers
We accept medical transfers for major traumas, including stroke, STEMI (heart attack) and all EMTALA (emergency transfer) situations.
Non-emergent Transfers
Transfers of inpatients with worsening status requiring escalating care. This includes transplant, neurosurgical and cancer patients.
Physician-referred Transfers
Transfers from other facilities for rare or challenging conditions requiring advanced care, such as complex fracture or spine surgery.
