For years, Thai Community Development Center (Thai CDC) and Cedars‑Sinai have worked side by side to remove barriers to healthcare and increase access to essential resources for Thai immigrants across Los Angeles. One of their most impactful collaborations is the Produce Prescription Program, which helps address food insecurity and chronic health conditions among the Thai community by providing fresh, locally sourced produce to patients who need it most.

I came here at a toddler age from Thailand, and we settled in a neighborhood in Los Angeles. It was a very poor, very diverse community with limited resources. Growing up, I saw firsthand how difficult it was to access quality food and healthcare. That experience shaped my passion for serving the community today.

      — Chancee Martorell, Executive Director, Thai Community Development Center

That same passion is shared by Qiana Montazeri, Associate Program Officer with the Community Benefit Giving Office at Cedars‑Sinai, whose work focuses on investing in community-based organizations that create long-term solutions for health equity. Over the years, she and Chancee have collaborated closely to ensure Thai CDC’s programs continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community. Their collaboration helped launch Thai CDC’s Center for Health Equity, a hub for programs that provide nutritional support, healthcare access, and economic stability initiatives—all essential to long-term community health.

At Cedars‑Sinai, we care about the unique healthcare needs of our LA communities. We are inspired by the individuals who dedicate their lives to serving others, and the partnerships that turn vision into action. People like Chancee and Qiana show that when healthcare providers and community organizations work together, we can build a stronger, healthier Los Angeles for all.
