Application Information
We offer approximately 20 positions in a traditional categorical program (Program No. 1030140C0) and seven positions in our primary care track (Program No. 1030140M0). Additionally, we offer one or two positions through our Physician Scientist Training Program (Program No. 1030140C1).
We offer two preliminary internal medicine tracks. The first of our preliminary internal medicine programs (Program No. 1030140P0) offers a single year of training in medicine for those who plan to pursue subsequent training in another medical field. This program has two or three preliminary PGY-1 positions available per year.
In the second preliminary internal medicine track, we offer five positions to interns who will complete their subsequent training in the Cedars-Sinai Neurology Residency Training Program (Program No. 1030140P1). This program is only available to individuals who rank the Cedars-Sinai advanced Neurology Residency Program (Program No. 1030180A0).
Instructions & Information for Applicants
For the postgraduate year one (first-year medical residency) program, Cedars-Sinai only accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Final acceptance into our program is contingent upon graduation from medical school. For more information on ERAS, contact your medical school. In addition to your ERAS application, you will need to submit several additional items.
Categorical (No. 1030140C0) and Primary Care Track (No. 1030140M0) applicants will need:
- Curriculum vitae (CV)
- Transcript of medical school records
- Personal statement
- Medical student performance evaluation from your dean's office
- Department of Medicine summary letter of evaluation
- One clinical letter of recommendation from an internal medicine faculty member
- Up to two other letters of recommendation from any source are optional
- USMLE Step 1 results
- USMLE Step 2 results if available

Neurology Residency Training Preliminary Program (No. 1030140P1) Applicants
All applications for the integrated preliminary medicine program and the Neurology Training Program are processed by the Residency Training Program in Neurology.
Physician Scientist Training Program (Program No. 1030140C1) Applicants
All applications for the Physician Scientist Training Program are processed by The Physician Scientist Program
Interview & Selection Process
All applications will be screened after October 1. Applicants will be contacted via email.
The deadline for accepting your application is December 1. We strongly encourage you to apply prior to December as interview slots fill quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
We will offer interviews on most Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays between Nov. 6, 2020, and Jan. 29, 2021. We will not conduct interviews during the week of Thanksgiving or the last week in December.
No, we do not have a minimum score requirement, but all applicants must pass the USMLE Step 1 prior to consideration for an interview. We do not require applicants to have USMLE Step 2 scores reported prior to consideration for an interview, though we do encourage it.
No. While we do accept applications from students or graduates of osteopathic medical schools, we require all applicants to have passed the USMLE Step 1 as per the requirements above.
Yes. We consider applications from individuals who have attend or have graduated from international medical schools.
Yes. We sponsor our house-staff trainees who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents for H-1B visas only.
