Training

There is an integrated didactic core lecture series, attended by all residents and fellows, which covers a range of topics in anatomic and clinical pathology. An extensive teaching file contains glass slides demonstrating the entire spectrum of Dermatopathology and Musculoskeletal Pathology, including non-neoplastic and neoplastic lesions.

On-Call Responsibilities
Conferences
  • Present in AP Didactic, 1/year
  • Present in unknowns conference, 1/year
  • Cutaneous Oncology Tumor Board, monthly
  • Sarcoma Tumor Board, weekly
  • Consensus surgical pathology case review conference, daily
  • Surgical Pathology Journal Club, monthly
  • Pathology Grand Rounds, monthly
  • Autopsy conference
  • Division wide unknowns, monthly
  • SOCCI tumor board, weekly (optional)

Fellow is encouraged to attend other departmental and interdepartmental conferences and educational endeavors to maintain competence in general pathology.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Frozen section review for cases in which the fellow participated.
  • Immunostain quality control.
  • Review of amended reports for discrepancies (various areas)
  • Review of oncologic reports to ensure compliance with CAP elements for skin cases
  • Correlation of biopsy specimens for musculoskeletal cases
  • Maintenance of records for the consensus conference
  • Frozen section turn-around-time data (all)
  • Quarterly inter-institutional review of cases sent to other institutions (all)
