Frequently Asked Questions

We want candidates who have performed well in medical school and residency, as demonstrated by their academic record, reviews, and letters of recommendation. Post-residency work is also viewed favorably. Evidence of successful work on informatics projects is also necessary.

We have one spot each year. In general, we estimate that we will interview approximately 10 applicants.

Find the informaticists at your organization and start working with them on an informatics project.

Common options include operational clinical informatics, academic research or industry.

Because our first fellow started in 2019, we don’t yet have any alumni.

The Dean’s letter is the one from your medical school that you used when applying to your residency.

Because we are requesting three letters of recommendation, one good option might be as follows:

  1. Current employer
  2. Old residency attending or program director
  3. Someone who can speak on your behalf regarding your informatics related experience and/or interest
