Curriculum & Training

Fellows gain comprehensive experience in all facets of the Endovascular Neurosurgery Fellowship.

Clinical Components

The preliminary requirements of the program involve clinical experience with 100 diagnostic cerebral angiograms. Once these requirements are fulfilled, fellows are expected to gain experience in 100 neuroendovascular therapeutic procedures. This experience includes training in the following:

  • Endovascular coiling, stenting, and flow diversion treatment of cerebral aneurysms
  • Intracranial and cervical artery thrombectomy and thrombolysis for acute stroke treatment
  • Transarterial and transvenous liquid polymer embolization of cerebral and spinal arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulas
  • Carotid artery angioplasty and stenting
  • Embolization of intracranial, spinal, and head and neck tumors
  • Epistaxis embolization
  • Cerebral artery angioplasty and stenting
  • Endovascular treatment of cerebral artery vasospasm
  • Embolization and/or sclerotherapy of facial and head and neck vascular malformations
  • Related neurointerventional procedures.

Fellows will obtain experience in an outpatient neurovascular clinic, as well as learning basic tenets of neuro-ICU neurovascular patient management.

Fellows will be expected to attend a weekly neurovascular case conference and monthly neurovascular QA conference, as well as required didactic lectures and symposia.

Fellows will be expected to participate in clinical studies, as well as other studies approved by the Cedars-Sinai Institutional Review Board, and to participate in data collection and analysis.

Departmental Responsibilities

Fellows are expected to take neurovascular call from home, participate in patient and resident education and dictate cases or documents in the written charts, as instructed.
